Intro

As you will quickly see, Daystar Baptist Missions, Inc. is not just another mission board. You will find Daystar's balanced philosophy as an independent Baptist mission board refreshing, as you consider short-term and career missions. If you are a prospective career missionary, you will appreciate Daystar's emphasis on your sending church truly retaining its scriptural authority while you serve with Daystar. If you are considering a short-term missions experience, you will want to know that each trip is carefully networked with a local church overseas in order to help maximize the impact made on both you and the nationals. So take a minute, explore this section, and see what the Daystar difference could mean for you!

The Foundation

The Local Church

Following the pattern of the Antioch church in Acts 13, Daystar strongly upholds that the authority in the life and ministry of the missionary is the local sending church, not the mission board nor a denominational headquarters. We stand firm with churches concerning Bible doctrine, but believe the sending church determines issues of preference.

The Strategy

Strategic Church Planting

Following the missionary methods of the Apostle Paul, Daystar's strategy is to plant a significant church within a country that will be a source of light for the whole country. That autonomous church will eventually plant other churches, providing finances, qualified workers, and mentoring relationships to those new works, so they too can reproduce themselves and succeed as great commission churches.

The Concept

The Team Concept

  • Team concept within a ministry; not team within a country.
  • Utilization of combined strengths, talents, and gifts for greater impact.
  • Provides greater impact through multiple ministries within the strategic church.
  • Provides opportunities for multi-talented individuals who are called to missions, but not to preach or pastor.
  • Opens the door to single men and women, plus early retirees seeking to serve the Lord on the mission field.
The Execution

Making Disciples

The Great Commission is the Lord's command to "go and make disciples of all nations." Missionaries, who understand the culture, will seek a variety of methods to share the light of the Gospel and make disciples who are congregated into a fruit-bearing church. The Biblical pattern is discipleship that results in authentic followers who in turn minister to others, not just evangelism that results in decisions and nothing more.
